Ag Galerie is a privately owned space wholly devoted to exhibiting contemporary works of image-based media by established Iranian artists.  The gallery owner and director, has been actively organizing and curating exhibitions since 2008.  The decision to open a permanent space in January 2015 was the result of a desire to further promote Iranian art through art fairs and publication.  The gallery building is a restored 1960’s villa in the northern part of Tehran.  We support creating an artistic dialog between artists from Iran and elsewhere and will therefore be inviting renowned international artists to present their works at our gallery.  Our aim is to also raise the standards of the presentation of photography in Iran through proper archival printing and framing methods.  To this end, we have established our own in-house digital printing lab with the finest and most sophisticated of facilities.

FREUDENTHAL/VERHAGEN: Booklaunch WHOLE at X BANK Amsterdam

Freudenthal and Verhagen teamed up right after graduation from the Gerrit Rietvel Academy in Amsterdam and have been collaborating as image makers for over 25 years.
Their work combines fine art photography with fashion, surreal imagery with brutal reality and often makes the spectator wonder, is it art or is it fashion? Is it real or manipulated? Headstrong against the grain, they have become highly respected for their consistently peculiar, provoking and experimental work.

WHOLE is dedicated to their entirely uncommon, weird and wonderful body of work, dating all the way back to the start of their collaboration in 1989. It is designed to take you on a journey into their surreal, colorful and quaint universe. WHOLE is much more than a book on photography; it is a weighty object and an art work in its own right.

Opening Moco Museum met tentoonstellingen van Banksy en Warhol

Grote Banksy tentoonstelling in nieuw museum in Amsterdam

Uitnodiging opening Moco Museum

Uitnodiging opening Moco Museum

This Art Fair: Ik Jan Cremer, fotograaf

We are extremely proud to announce that Klerkx International Art Management will participate at This Art Fair at the Beurs van Berlage with a solo presentation of Jan Cremer's photography.

Jan Cremer, Marylin Monroe Memorial

Jan Cremer, Marylin Monroe Memorial

This Art Fair, is a new and innovative art fair based in Amsterdam (at 5 min walk from the Central Station) and located in the historic Beurs van Berlage (a beautiful example of Dutch modern architecture) where artists, galleries, agencies and institutions can showcase their work. We love the pioneering spirit of this fair and decided to participate with one of our most fascinating pioneers and living icons: Jan Cremer.

We will showcase a selection of 20 years of photography, from the mid-sixties to the early eighties, still unknown to the public and giving a beautiful insight ino the world of Jan Cremer.

Even as a young boy, Cremer wanted to become a photographer. In this way, he could follow in the footsteps of his prematurely deceased father, who travelled the world as a journalist. With a legacy of photos, the young Cremer followed him in his imagination. It was only after the success of his bestseller I, Jan Cremer in 1964 that he could buy his first real camera. ‘Instead of making notes all the time,’ states Cremer, ‘I record everything on celluloid. I photograph street names, shops windows, captions, billboards, advertising signs, posters.’ In addition, there are the pictorial themes: ‘Some street scenes or landscapes, details of crumbling walls, rough mountaintops, turbulent rivers, eternal snow, are unadulterated paintings. When I look through the viewfinder, I immediately see the painting.’ To Cremer there is only one shutter speed: the shortest one, 1/250 of a second. ‘Photography is all about that short moment, that one irrevocable moment.’

Down through the years, Cremer’s photos have reflected his urge to travel. In New York, he photographed the view from his room in the notorious Chelsea hotel, the wooden bathing houses on Coney Island, and the neon signs on Times Square. ‘An advertising sign is a perfect representation of the train of thought of a people at a given moment’, according to Cremer, who worked with an advertisement painter when he was young.  We also see advertising in East Berlin, but it is a symbol of faded glory. We see cardboard palm trees on the beach in Romania, and Eskimos peel their potatoes at the North Pole. Cremer has no pretensions with his photos. ‘I am the eye that remains unnoticed. At the beginning of the sixties I found a photo of a cell door in an American prison in a well-thumbed Esquire left behind on Ibiza. It displayed a drawn eye and a warning: ‘Unseen Eye is watching you’. I recognized myself. I observe and am invisible.’ Source: Museum De Fundatie, Zwolle
